The treatment and study of conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.
If you have been referred to us because your pet is suspected of suffering from a neurological condition, please try not to worry, your pet is in good hands. Our Neurology team deals with the diagnosis and management of conditions of the nervous system and brain.
The diagnostic process might include a combination of blood tests, diagnostic imaging (MRI or CT scanning, myelography), cerebrospinal fluid sampling, advanced electrodiagnostics (electromyography, nerve conduction velocities) and nerve or muscle biopsy. Subsequent to a diagnosis, your specialist will talk you through options for therapy, which might include drug therapy and/or surgical management.
As always, your specialist will include you and your vet in all discussions regarding the management of your pet’s condition and explore the best course of action for every situation.
